TUFA Community Involvement 2012 and Partnership
June 12, 2012 Lake Ontario Evenings: Urban Angling Edition presented by Toronto & Region Remedial Action Plan TUFA attended. “Gone Fish’n” Motion presented. “Fishes of Toronto” book launch.
July 12, 2012 “Gone Fish’n” Motion was passed through Toronto City Council. TUFA was a catalyst and partner in this.
July 7 and 8, 2012 “Family Fishing Days” Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation offered TUFA the opportunity to become assisting partners with the “Family Fishing Days” free fishing events at High Park and Toronto Islands. Toronto Urban Fishing Ambassadors were on hand providing front line assistance at both Ontario Fishing Week events unhooking fish, tying and baiting lines, untangling gear, giving tips and fishing technique guidance to the kids and their parents.
September 23, 2012 Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup: Fall Edition @ The Outer Harbour – TUFA organized and executed a shoreline cleanup.
October 24, 2012 “Outdoor Recreational and Educational Classroom” TUFA was an assisting partner to TPFR in an “Outdoor Recreational and Educational Classroom” about Fish and Fishing held at Grenadier Pond for 100 students from three Toronto high schools.
October 27, 2012 MEA Coho Salmon Egg Harvest – TUFA volunteered and helped Metro East Anglers Harvest Coho Salmon Eggs on the Credit River for Ringwood Fish Hatchery.
November 08, 2012 Asian Carp Conference – TUFA attended and participated in a bi-national conference regarding Invasive Species Asian Carp and the Great Lakes.

TUFA’s goal in 2013 was to revitalize and grow Recreational Fishing in the city of Toronto.

May, 2014 Shimano Tackle Share Program TUFA attended meetings. TUFA assembled and prepared 84 fishing rods and reels for distribution to tackle share sites in the Toronto area.
May, 2014 TUFA Tackle Share TUFA purchased and prepped 24 rods and reels to add to its tackle share program.

TUFA Community Involvement 2015 and Partnership
Jan – May, 2015 Created TUFA TackleShare by purchasing 400 fishing reels, rods, line and terminal tackle. TUFA TackleShare is the tackle (rods and reels) that are used by people attending the Urban Fishing Festivals and other introductory fishing initiatives.
Jan – May, 2015 OFAH TackleShare TUFA assisted with finding suitable locations for long term tackleshare in Toronto. TUFA assisted with the setup and promotion of this project.

June 14, 2015 Catch A Dream fishing tournament for children from Sick Kids Hospital and Make A Wish Foundation. TUFA members were volunteers assisting with the care and activities of the children participating.
June 17, 2015 Outdoor Classroom and Fish ability at Topham Pond Fishing experience for a small class of a dozen children 8 – 12 years of age with autism, blindness and severe physical challenges.

July12, 2015 Family Fishing Day, Humber Bay Park East – TUFA was an active partner in planning and operations. TUFA TackleShare supported the event with 250 rods and reels.
July 21 – Sept 30, 2015 Asian Carp (Grass Carp) – TUFA scouted and located dozens of grass carp in the Toronto area reporting their locations to the TRCA, OMNR and DFO task force. We made and reported the initial discoveries a week before the TRCA were able to catch the first ones.
August, 2015 Fishing Access Ban at Humber Bay Park – TUFA fought the access ban and prevented the posting of “No Fishing” signs.
August, 2015 Fishing in Toronto Parks Letter – TUFA drafted a letter to Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation outlining issues and requesting an update in policy and action.
August 12, 2015 Fishing Trip for Nellie’s House to Ashbridges Bay – A fishing experience for single mothers and their children through the women’s shelter Nellie’s House. TUFA planned and operated the event.
August 21 – Sept 07, 2015 Fishing Friendzy at the CNE – TUFA volunteered to assist in teaching fishing skills to thousands of kids.
August 23, 2015 Fishing Access Ban at Coronation Park – TUFA consulted and negotiated the removal of the posted “no fishing” signs and secured access for recreational fishing.
